Agatha All Along Episode 5 fails to maintain momentum following a terrific Episode 4.

The ending of the episode, where there’s a confrontation between Agatha and Teen about the latter’s identity, is great. Although the reveal of Teen’s identity is predictable the visuals are fantastic. Unfortunately, nothing else about the episode stands out.

Agatha All Along Episode 5 is the shortest episode of the series so far, rolling credits in under 30 minutes. The episode accomplishes a rare feat; most sequences feel rushed, but there’s also a fair amount of boredom. Agatha All Along Episode 5 feels more like a “previously on” sequence than an episode.

Episode 5 should be the best episode of the series, as this is Agatha’s trial. Unfortunately, there’s not much new revealed. The 80s vibe of the house was cool, but the inclusion of an Ouija board, demonic possession, and the death of another witch left me feeling emotionally numbered.

Dramatic moments like Agatha’s reunion with her Mom or the enormity of Agatha finally knowing who Teen is doesn’t resonate as it should. Here’s hoping Episode 6 is an improvement. Agatha All Along is streaming on Disney Plus.

Agatha All Along Episode 5 Recap

In Agatha All Along Episode 5, The Salem Seven have located the covent. To escape, the coven fashions brooms and briefly takesto the skies before The Road forces back to the ground.

Once on the ground, the coven is presented with a new trial. Outside of the 80s aesthetic, the trial doesn’t reveal much compared to the other trials thus far. The coven must use an Ouija board to discover the clue. Agatha decides to do an impression of Mrs. Hart to mimic possession but drops the act.

Agatha vows to take it seriously, but she’s possessed for real. The ghost of Agatha’s mother appears. She wants to punish Agatha and tells the other witches to leave Agatha with her. Rio Vidal is the most adamant in protecting Agatha.

Agatha is once again possessed. This time, Alice steps in and uses her magic to try to save Agatha. Unfortunately, Agatha absorbs Alice’s magic, killing her in the process.

The witches and Teen emerge from the trial. Agatha reveals she knows the identity of Teen’s mother. Knowing that Teen isn’t her son, she calls him pet. An enraged Teen unleashes his power. He throws the witches off the road, and they are submerged. Agatha All Along Episode 5 ends with Teen revealing himself as Wiccan.
